Based on the original Maserati Quattroporte, the Maserati Mexico was produced between 1966 and 1972. Named after the nationality of the first two owners and their significance in their home country of Mexico.
Only 485 Maserati Mexicos were produced over its six years of production, all powered by the same engine variants as the Quattroporte.
There were 175 Mexicos which were equipped with a 4.7 litre engine and these boasted a top speed of 159 mph and accelerated from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The other 305 Mexico’s had a 4.2 litre engine and had a top speed 10 mph slower; 149 mph, and hit 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds.
With its slim profile and superb detailing, the Mexico ranked among the best-looking four-seaters of its era with impeccable styling inside and out and represented excellence, design and power which have continued to be found on Maseratis to this day.
Included as standard with the design of the Maserati Mexico came generous amounts of leather surfaces, wooden dashboard, air conditioning, electric windows, iodine headlamps and a first to be fitted with servo-assisted ventilated brake discs on all four wheels.
The fact that the Mexico was produced in low numbers has contributed to its current high market value and has increased demand for discerning Maserati collectors worldwide.
